Cambridge IGCSE Physics (0625/0972)
All students take three papers. Students who have studied the Core syllabus content take Paper 1, Paper 3 and either Paper 5 or Paper 6. These students will be eligible for grades C/5 to G/1. Students who have studied the Extended syllabus content (Core and Supplement) take Paper 2, Paper 4 and either Paper 5 or Paper 6. These students will be eligible for grades A*/9 to G/1.
Papers 1 and 2 are 45 minutes long and are marked out of 40.
Papers 3 and 4 are 1 hour 15 minutes long and are marked out of 80.
Paper 5 (Practical Test) is 1 hour 15 minutes long and is marked out of 40.
Paper 6 (Alternative to Practical) is 1 hour long and is marked out of 40.
Core Examination
Paper 1 counts for 30% of the final assessment, Paper 3 50%, and Paper 5 or 6 20%.
Supplement Examination
Paper 2 counts for 30% of the final assessment, Paper 4 50%, and Paper 5 or 6 20%.
The content is split into six teaching topics:
• Topic 1: Motion, forces and energy
• Topic 2: Thermal physics
• Topic 3: Waves
• Topic 4: Electricity and magnetism
• Topic 5: Nuclear physics
• Topic 6: Space physics
